We regularly get asked about the river water quality and if it is regarded as safe when crusing the river. Safety of our guests is of the utmost importance to Liquid Lounge, and the Vaal River water quality is one of the items on the top of our safety list, which is why we want to address it here.

The Vaal River water quality is regularly tested by Rand Water. 10 different points are tested along a stretch of approximately 56km from Suikerbosrant, to the Barrage just passed Loch Vaal.

In the Summer season, Rand Water tests the water quality weekly, and in Winter every 2 weeks. You can find weekly reports on www.reservoir.co.za under “Weekly Barrage Reservoir Water Quality Reports”.

You will see guidelines on how to read and interpret the information given in the diagrams.

The Liquid Lounge cruises travel between points 5 and 6 and our houseboats are situated in the same location.

Please note that the water quality in the Liquid Lounge area is always one of the best within the Vaal River Barrage.
